AMD's Lemonade SDK 10.3 Now 10x Smaller by Getting Rid of Electron (phoronix.com)
canucker2016 3 days ago [-]
They moved to Tauri (rust + platform webview).

The title and release notes say 10x, but the article mentions an almost 100MB drop in size to less than 10MB for macos/windows.

For Linux, they suggest using the web ui instead of the appimage. see https://www.phoronix.com/forums/forum/phoronix/latest-phoron...

AMD Lemonade - https://lemonade-server.ai/

One local service for every modality.

Point your app at Lemonade and get chat, vision, image gen, transcription, speech gen, and more with standard APIs.

Is it a "but"? 100/10 = 10, no?

saying "10x smaller" is like saying "1000% cheaper"

"[whole number]x smaller" is pretty clearly division (with 1 being invalid). Percents have the problem that they can be above or below 100% in a way that causes ambiguity and makes it messy.

Dropping electron is always a good choice.
