PARC also has a museum, but for some reason they were extremely adamant that no one take any photographs inside or even describe it's existence online.

My coworkers were absolute gems, but the company seemed to have been traumatized by Steve Jobs and they were incredibly adamant that no more intellectual property would be exiting the building without like seven layers of approval.

That sucks, considering Steve Jobs didn't steal it, it was for pre-IPO investment https://www.newsweek.com/silicon-valley-apple-steve-jobs-xer...

Yes, they were compensated, but they will forever feel they undervalued their tech apparently and don't want it happening again.

I couldn't find anything regarding their Alto system, widely regarding as the first computer graphical operating system when it was developed in the late 1970s https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xerox_Alto , from their Palo Alto Research Center (PARC). Aaand I think I just figured out why the modern Xerox multi-function Xerox copier/scanner/printers we have at work are called AltaLink

Also to note where the roots of "modern" languages like Zig steem from.

"Early software for the Alto was written in the programming language BCPL, and later in Mesa, which was not widely used outside PARC but influenced several later languages, such as Modula."

This is some good Xerox trivia. Thanks for sharing royskee.

It's always worth noting that every computer you've worked with for the last 30 years has most likely been one of the Alto's grandkids. #Xerox #PARC
